1. What do I know about writing essays?
I know when writing an essay you need alot of background information. For a good essay all of your facts need to be correct. You need to do alot of research to. You also need a thesis statement stating where you are in the position of your writing. You need a conclusion that closes off your essay. You have to make sure all of your writing flows in your essay. At the beginning of the essay you should write a good hook to get your readers interested. At the end of the essay make sure you got your point across to the audience.
2. Why do we read? We read because without words we couldn’t communicate. Reading is one of the main ways we can communicate or show something. Everything we see is written, so if we couldn’t read we wouldn’t be able to function properly because we wouldn’t know where or what anything is. We read so we can gain a better knowledge of a certain subject. Other people just read for entertainment. We also read to get informed whether it be for a report or just wanting to know something.
3. What is my hometown like?
Although I was born here in Utah I don’t consider it my hometown. I moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma on my first birthday for my dad’s job. I grew up there and that’s where my sister was born. Oklahoma to a lot of people just seems like farms and wide open land but the area I lived in was more like Salt Lake without the mountains. There were a lot of tornadoes and some earthquakes. Even though I don’t remember them its still scary to think that I had to go hide in an underground shelter the second day I lived there! One thing I do remember was every night I would go with my mom to rock my sister to sleep and then she would put me in bed by reading me a story and then she would put music on to help me stay asleep.
4. Quiz Chapters 24-27
One of the things that stood out to me the most was in the beginning of chapter 24 how Scout was willing to be part of the tea party at her house. Another was when Tom Robinson died. Although the town may have no cared that he had passed, they definetely were not on Ewells side of the dispute either.
5. Last argument The last argument I was in was at cheer. Yesterday all of the girls were arguing with the coaches over what spot they deserve in the routine. The coaches said that the better girls should be in the front. Kenzie and I got moved to the front so some girls got mad because they got kicked out. We got in an argument with a girl on the team because she thought she deserved to be in a position but she couldn’t even do the routine pass. Another girl took her spot who could do the pass so we got in an argument over who deserved it. Kenzie and I said that the girl who could do it should be able to have the spot. I used pathos because I argued that Caitlyn should be nice to Desi because at least Desi was willing to do the pass so she could have the spot. Caitlyn can’t get mad over something she can’t do.
6. opinion and prejudice
Everyone has their own opinion on alot of different subjects. Everyone also has their times when they are prejudice. These two things are not the same. An opinion is what forms after you have knowledge about something. Its what you think after you have had experience with the subject. To be Prejudice is when you judge on a first impression. Its what you think something is before you really know anything about it.
